Autograph Guide By Mail

My Guide for Collecting Major League Baseball Autographs Through the Mail

A lot of baseball fans out there would probably like to collect autographs of their favorite players if they could. Well, there is a way you can without ever going to a Major League ballpark: you can collect through the mail. Here is how I do it: If you like signatures of retired players as I do, there is a book you MUST have. The books is called "The Baseball Address Book". This books is written by Jack Smalling. In it you will find mailing addresses for almost everyone who has ever played in the Majors. Mr. Smalling updates this book every couple years or so. This makes the newest issue ultra important for mail collecting.

So once you have the address of the player, it is easy to send for his autograph. Write a short note asking the player if he has the time to sign an item for you. I usually send a baseball card or an index card. Tell him something that you remember about his career. Tell him why you would like to have his autograph.

Send him your item, along with a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope). You MUST send an SASE, or you are not going to get your item back. Never send more than two items to a player. You will find that among retired players, the success rate can be very high. This is a great way to keep your hobby fresh and alive. It can bring enjoyment for baseball fans of all ages.

I have sent to well over 1000 different major league baseball players. If you have a question about sending to a player, or if you are interested in finding out if a certain player signed for me in the mail, email me at the link below.
