San Diego - Qualcomm

My wife and I made a visit to San Diego in June of 2000. Since her sister has Padres season tickets, we took our nephews and went to the game. The Padres played the Reds. This was our first chance to see Ken Griffey Jr. play in person, and we were both every excited.

As usually we got there early to see batting practice. The seats we had were three rows up, between home plate and first base. The view was excellent. We were close enough that the players could hear somebody screaming at them, it was me. Pookie Reese, the Reds second baseman, hit out the game's second pitch, to left. There were also home runs by Padres Phil Nevin and Brett Boone. It was an exciting game, which the Padres won and we got to see Trevor Hoffman come in for the save. I didn't try to get autographs, as I was on a family outing. I did see several Padres signing for the crowd of fans. Included were Ryan Klesko, Phil Nevin and other Padres who I couldn't make out.

Overall, our San Diego Padre experience was a good one. The stadium was neat and clean, the weather was great and the food was awesome. If you ever get the chance, and you're in San Diego, go see the house that Tony Gwynn built.
