Spring Training 2001

This past March I went to Phoenix, Arizona to see the Milwaukee Brewers in Spring Training. I spent most of my time at the Brewers facility in Maryvale. While I heard from other autograph collectors who were there that the Maryvale ballpark is not the best for getting autographs, I did fairly well.
Here are a couple of reasons while I did well at Maryvale. First and foremost, the Brewers are one of the most accommodating teams when it comes to autographs. The best were Jeromy Burnitz, Jeffery Hammonds, Ben Sheets and Ron Belliard. The toughest one is probably Richie Sexson. I did however see him sign for about half a dozen people one day. I was not one of them.
Another reason why I did OK collecting autographs at Maryvale is that there wasn't much competition. The most people I saw going for autographs were two dozen on a weekend when the Brewers played the D'Backs.
Overall my trip to Phoenix for Spring Training was GREAT. I want to try and make it an annual thing.
